Review of the boAt Nirvana Zenith earbuds: Can these low-cost earbuds with cutting-edge capabilities compete with high-end models?

Most people don't associate boAt with high-end audio equipment when they hear the word. You've probably heard the saying, "It's for bassheads who don't value quality," regarding boAt merchandise. Although boAt's default sound is intended to appeal to customers who enjoy bass music, these arguments cannot be used to discount the company's offerings.

The business bills these as luxury buds, and I just got the opportunity to review the boAt Nirvana Zenith earphones (which retail for more than ₹17,000, though you can get them for a little over ₹3,000 depending on where you shop). Are you considering purchasing these earbuds and are curious about what makes the boAt Nirvana Zenith headphones unique among the plethora of wireless choices available on the market?

Can audiophiles get the immersive sound experience they desire with these earphones that include sophisticated ANC with up to 50dB noise reduction? How well do they deliver on sound quality with 11mm deep bass drivers and Dolby Audio-powered boAt Surround Sound? Is there enough battery backup? In our detailed review of the boAt Nirvana Zenith earphones, we go over these aspects and more.

Details about the boAt Nirvana Zenith earphones

Quality of construction and design of boAt Nirvana Zenith earphones

The packaging of the boAt Nirvana Zenith drew my attention before I even got a chance to look at the upscale earphones' chrome glass construction. The sleek and contemporary packaging really got my attention, and the earbuds' shiny casing gave them a high-end look. Still, there's a lack of durability in the design. For example, some customers who appreciate subdued aesthetics may find the glossy chrome to be unappealing and unpretentious, while the Dolby Audio branding at the back appears less polished for unknown reasons. I have the same problem with the case of these boAt earphones as I have with many of their products: I'm obsessed with looking premium without really understanding what premium means.

I think the earphones case should have been a little bit smaller, even though the chrome glass looks nice to grasp and look at. Even so, it's impressive that these earbuds offer nearly premium sound quality for a little over ₹3,000, and you won't find a more upscale-appearing pair of earphones anywhere else for that kind of money. The buds have a nice appearance, and I particularly appreciate the glass slider-style switch that allows you to tap them to adjust music, pause, and other functions. To put it simply, the buds are lovely and will look wonderful in your ears. These earbuds have withstood my use in a variety of conditions, including the gym and wet commutes, and their IPX5 classification is commendable.

The boAt Nirvana Zenith earbuds' sound quality

When it comes to sound quality, nothing beats the boAt Nirvana Zenith. To start, I'm not a "basshead" and I hate bass-heavy equalization algorithms that overpower the unique qualities of songs with strong instrumentals. And boAt audio products frequently have that issue. Fortunately, the included app allows you to adjust and customize the sound, although I would prefer a well-balanced listening experience right out of the box.

Let's get into the details now. If you enjoy strong bass, you will love the distinctive boAt sound that these earbuds offer thanks to their 11mm deep bass drivers. To enhance the experience even more, Dolby Audio powered by boAt Surround Sound has been added. The sound was amazing for bass-heavy music, but for delicate acoustic pieces, I was forced to replace these buds with a more well-balanced set from OnePlus.

Just be aware that sometimes the bass can be a little too prominent, which may not be to everyone's taste. The bass seems to overpower the mids and highs in more intricate music, which might be a deal breaker for people who want a more balanced sound profile. Furthermore, even if the adaptive EQ feature is neat, there should be more ways to customize it.

Using AI-ENx and intelligent ANC, the boAt Nirvana Zenith earbuds

Among the best I've tested in this pricing range is the Nirvana Zenith's clever ANC. Whether I'm having a call on a busy street or working in a café, it successfully filters out background noise. During calls, even in busy settings, the six microphones with AI-ENx technology performed a fantastic job of ensuring that my voice was heard clearly.

However, the ANC isn't perfect. Although it performs admirably in most situations, it occasionally has trouble with abrupt or higher-pitched noises. Should you be seeking flawless noise suppression in every setting, you may find yourself a little let down. Even still, if you're looking for the ultimate isolation experience without breaking the bank and want to use noise cancellation, I'd recommend this set.

Performance and connectivity of the boAt Nirvana Zenith earbuds

The Bluetooth v5.3 connection is incredibly reliable. Because of the Nirvana Zenith's multi-device connectivity, switching between my various devices has been largely effortless.

While generally seamless, the multi-device connectivity occasionally lags when switching between devices, which was annoying when I needed to swiftly transition between my laptop and phone. However, as that only occurs twice in ten instances, it shouldn't become an issue over time.

While gaming, I also tested the BEASTTM Mode, and I noticed that the low latency of 60ms improved the audio-visual synchronization.

The boAt Nirvana Zenith earbuds' battery life

These earbuds have an amazing battery life. After four days of everyday use, I've only needed to charge the case once. These earphones have a playback time of more than 40 hours when fully charged, making them ideal for lengthy travels or hectic workweeks. When you're in a hurry, the USB Type-C rapid charging is invaluable.

However, depending on how you use them, the actual battery life may differ. When I used ANC and alternated between BEASTTM Mode and normal listening, I saw that the playtime decreased to less than 30 hours. To make it easy to monitor the remaining charge, I would have also valued a battery indicator on the case.
